Burgess-Manning Pulsation Dampeners
Burgess-Manning has been developing, designing, and manufacturing pulsation vessels since the first application in gas compression service. Our engineering and fabrication staff is one of the most experienced and capable groups able to address your pulsation abatement needs. We're able to fit complex geometries and combine dampeners with our separation technology if required.
Why Use a Pulsation Dampener?
Reciprocating or positive displacement gas compressors produces a pulsating flow. If pulsation is complimentary or matches the operating equipment frequency or harmonics, the following may occur:
- Decrease in compressor efficiency = horsepower loss!
- Increased cylinder pulse reflection = accelerated valve wear
- Overstressed piston rods and increased wear from unbalanced dynamic loading
- Deviation in compressor loading forcing engine overloads and "hunting"
- Compressor vibrations
Pulsation Dampener Applications
Gas compressors on pipelines and Refineries and Petrochemical processes such as:
- Natural Gas
- Carbon dioxide
- Hydrogen and Hydrogen service — clean fuel formulation
- Oxygen
- Other gas and gas-mixture services
